It could be armed with eight .50 caliber machine guns and 5-inch rockets or carry 2,500 pounds of bombs. The armored cockpit ensured excellent damage resistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In World War II, the Thunderbolt helped the USAAF aces attain great points and wreak havoc on the enemy.
