This film exists in a variety of versions, each with a different sequence. It has been edited to show the launch of a Model A from moving the plane into place to takeoff.
Wilbur is shown attaching a wheel to the wing, so that the plane may be moved across the ground (shown next). Then Wilbur prepares the launching rail, making sure it is straight. The airplane is wheeled into position. The weight for the catapult launching system is then hoisted into place. The weight is dropped, and the airplane rolls down the rail and takes off. It is seen from a distance, flying toward and over the camera.
